In todays ever changing automotive world there seems to be a new model entry almost every year. However, there are still a handful of cars that have never wavered and have stayed true to their heritage since inception. It can be argued that the Porsche 911 is the most iconic of them all as for more than fifty years it has stayed true to its mission and form.
We are seeing better vehicles being made and it is no longer uncommon to see a domestic or import that has been well maintained exceed 100,000 miles on the odometer. The “used” car has evolved for the better.
Porsche is synonymous with high performance and their 911 sports cars are the vehicles most associated with the Porsche brand even today as they now build sedans, SUVs and crossover vehicles. So it should come as no surprise that one of the most desirable cars amongst men and boys is a 911.
Let me be clear for the hip impaired. My C7 reference is about the seventh generation of America’s iconic sports car, the Chevrolet Corvette! In 2014 Chevy introduced their latest iteration of the Corvette and they knew they had a winner, as this was the first “Vet” in quite some time that they dubbed the “Stingray”. That nickname has been only reserved for special “Vets”.
The Chevrolet brand is not one typically associated with luxury but the automobile landscape has never been more convoluted as premium luxury brands introduce entry level sub $30,000.00 models, and brands of the everyday people introduce $100,000.00 plus models. Consider the high performing Corvette representative of the latter statement as their top of the line C7 Corvette Z06 nicely equipped will cost you over $100,000.00 for the right to say you are the owner.
So let’s do the math. A slightly used car defined as a two year old with an average depreciation rate of 15% per year leaves an entry level Bentley still priced at no less than $172,000.00 and that is clearly not “affordable” unless we are talking “Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous” so how is a Bentley affordable you ask?
If you are just one of those guys that lust for a Ferrari and remain unfazed then it doesn’t matter what I say. However if you are taking a more pragmatic approach then have no fear. In 2011 Ferrari announced that their 2012 models would come with a seven-year maintenance program. This applies to the FF, 458 Italia and the California models.
We are seeing better vehicles being made and it is no longer uncommon to see a domestic or import that has been well maintained exceed 100,000 miles on the odometer. The “used” car has evolved for the better.
Factor in depreciation with high levels of inventory and the advantage goes to you the shopper. Depreciation is your friend!
Lamborghini is a luxury Italian brand mostly known for the exotic supercars they’ve been building since the sixties to compete with the likes of Ferrari and most recently Porsche. Their design language is unique with sharp and angular design queues and today the entry level Lamborghini model is the Huracan and has an MSRP of $199,800.00. At this point you might be wondering if you clicked on the wrong article as it is entitled “The Affordable Lamborghini” but have no fear you are in the right place.
Ferrari is an auto manufacturer that essentially does one thing. They produce some of the sexiest supercars on the planet, period. These cars are raced around the globe and their reputation for winning has given them “street cred” as an authentic racing brand, which has helped build the demand for their road going cars for more than fifty years. Their cars transcend language with men and boys singing their praise universally across the globe.
